All too many preachers, while agreeing that evolution is true and Adam and Eve...
– Richard Dawkins, in his new book The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution. Dawkins’s work on science does a really good job of making difficult concepts really accessible (even to non-science people). His work on religion is, frankly, pretty bad. But I heartily agree with this...

Mike Scott - "A Wild Holy Band" →
No, not that Mike Scott. I mean this Mike Scott. He contributed a song to the CD included in the 2009 Music Edition of Believer magazine, a literary magazine published by McSweeney’s. A month ago, I picked it up again. I have not stopped listening to this song since. It’s one of my current musical obsessions. Maybe you’ll become obsessed with it too.
Einstein vs. Professor →
Over on the blog, a little discussion that I got into with my father on facebook, shared for your consideration.
Ohmygoodness. RT @dubbayoo: Water officially exists on the moon, they say. http://tr.im/zznC
I wonder when Duncan Jones’s _Moon_ is going to be released on DVD and BD…
Episode titles for Lost season 6 are starting to show up on the Internet. Best keep my guard up for the next four months.
I’m a bit surprised that this is now our #7 video of all time (in terms of view count). Not VERY surprised. Just a bit. http://tr.im/zzHm
Facebook does a good job of allowing me to pretend to be interested in caring about pretending to care about being interested in people.
This video is hilarious if you have context. But if you don’t, it’s probably just kind of disturbing. http://tr.im/zzGo
Apparently you can sign up for NaNoWriMo now. It used to be Oct 1. I feel old.
Guess what? NaNoWriMo registrations begin one week from today.
I’m worried I might be getting sick. Well, I WAS. Until I remembered that there’s no such thing as swine flu.
I am now “evolution guy” in my philosophy of mind class. Yes. It has come to this.
Aww. How cute. High school alumni soccer game. Erm, no.
Flashforward and Fringe tonight! I’ve heard mixed things about the former, but I am quite excited about the latter
Although I am still rather upset about a development on last week’s #Fringe. *sob*
I just noticed a striking similarity between the Fringe s2 premiere and the Lost s5 finale. But I can’t say because both are major spoilers!
God, this video is SEVENTEEN MINUTES LONG! How the hell did this ever come to exist? And how the hell did we get an A?
We did get an A, didn’t we? @mauwhir?
This has to be the strangest #videobloggery ever. And the one that made me laugh the hardest probably. http://tr.im/zsQj
Not even kidding: I’m watching Dragon Ball Kai. The picture is so crisp! And the backstory is ACTUALLY EXPLAINED. On screen. Really.
Man, this is the first time I’ve ever seen that footage. I thought it had been lost. I asked @mauwhir for it once but he said he’d lost it.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. RT @realjohngreen An emotionally gutwrenching video about the era in which we live: http://bit.ly/VYn6m
The opening and closing themes of Dragon Ball Kai both sound like DDR songs.
Swine flu? BAH! Ain’t no such thing. It’s just your mom and dad.
I’m not watching #House, but I sure as hell know the Bach Cello Suite No. 1 prelude when I hear it! It’s the only cello music on TV. Ever.
Man, Hugh Laurie sure is cranky! #House (it’s almost like I’m watching the show!)
I often wish that my videos could be as cool as @wheezywaiter’s. http://tr.im/zmuF
You can tell this show is topical because it WILL NOT SHUT UP about the economy. #Castle
The ending section of this song has been stuck in my head for days. YES. It replaced the Full House theme. http://tr.im/zmz1
Well, the procedural aspect is still very cookie-cutter. It’s the dramedy element that I watch for, though. #Castle
I mean, previously the cast chemistry was the main selling point, but from the opening, the writing seems to have caught up to its potential
Is it just me or did the writing on #Castle go from “decent” to “actually pretty good”?
“Wake Up DEAD! Wake up DEAD!”
I mean, I probably have at least thirty bucks worth of textbooks I’ve just been too lazy to sell.
I have one day in which to accomplish three projects, each of which really should take a full day. It’s my own damn fault.
I need money. I really want to sell some of my possessions. Trouble is I don’t have many of them here at school.
I’ve been pimping #videobloggery a lot. But seriously, best use of a target novelization on Youtube. By default, probably. http://tr.im/zb9x
Thank you, thank you, thank you @mauwhir for alerting me to this. http://tr.im/zb56
GRR SARTRE
Can I use the word “vlogger” in formal prose?
I was totally understanding sartre for like three pages and then he went completely off the rails. Ah well.
